The Case of Israel

THE CASE OF ISRAEL

In December 2009, at Supercines Los Ceibos, the Honorary General Consulate of Israel in Guayaquil, presented the projection and cinema forum of Alan Deshowitz´s film, ¨THE CASE OF ISRAEL¨, a vigorous struggle for the fundamental right to exist, to protect its citizens from terrorism, to defend its borders from hostile enemies and at the same time maintaining the highest standards of justice and democracy. This film was attended by local authorities, members of the national assembly, renowned lawyers of our country, university students, representatives of evangelical groups, Israel alumni, press and public in general.

Alan Dershowitz makes that the film THE CASE OF ISRAEL, becomes a documentary of reference.

¨The moment has come so that the proactive defense of Israel be put into consideration in the public opinion court.¨ Alan Dershowitz.
Israel is under attack, not only by terrorists who deny its fundamental right to exist, but also in the court of world opinion, which seeks to marginalize Israel as a supposed pariah of human rights that sanctions the apartheid. In a new documentary and already become a landmark, THE CASE OF ISRAEL: An example of Justice and Democracy, Alan Dershowitz, a distinguished professor at Harvard Law School and strong advocate of individual rights, stands with a vigorous defense of the Jewish State.

The 77 minutes film, produced by Doc Ernet Productions, which was presented by first time on October 19th, 2009, on the 24th edition of the International Film Festival of Haifa, presents evidence from prominent historians, analysts, legal experts and leaders on both sides of the political spectrum so that the case of Israel be legitimized and has the right to defend itself.

Through constant conversations with 28 commentators, from former Prime Minister Tzipi Livni, the Ambassador Dennis Ross and the Israel´s Supreme Court President, Aharon Barak, to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres and senior analysts as Caroline Glick and Natan Sharansky, Dershowits refutes the entrenched misconceptions about the history of Israel, the Jewish people, the demand for a homeland, the individual rights under the democratic system of Israel, its security wall, and the military conduct against terrorist attacks.

Dershowitz concludes with a formidable warning that the greatest threat to Israel is also the greatest threat to the peace and international security: The aggressive nuclear ambitions of Iran, driven by a anti-Zionist and anti-demogratic zealous, a mission that is promoted for its president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. An Iran without control, with nuclear weapons and terrorist surrogates, would jeopardize the goals of peace far beyond Tel Aviv.
The development and production of THE CASE OF ISRAEL, was accomplished in almost 2 years by Gloria Greenfield and Michael Yohay, the directors of Doc Ernet Productions.
